US Lacrosse Michigan Chapter hosted over 150 lacrosse and baseball fans for the first annual Detroit Tigers "Lacrosse Night". Fans were treated to special ticket prices for the 7:10 PM game versus the Chicago White Sox. The Chapter first set up a specially priced picnic for all those attending beginning at 5:40 PM in one of the large pavillions away from the field. All who attended were treated to unlimited hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, salads and Pepsi products. Small groups were able to sit, eat, and talk sharing the camaraderie of our game that too often distance makes impossible.
Hall of Famer Mike Jolly put it best: "It was great to mix with lacrosse folks from Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Ann Arbor, Detroit, Plymouth, and other points unknown. It was refreshing just to be together and talk about MANY things - among them lacrosse but also family, plans for the future, good times past, getting caught up, etc. It was also cool to be physically together (voices AND faces) and not just connected electronically as we so often are.
I thought it was especially worthwhile to have the UD-M players and coach present and have them helping at the check in to the Plaza. Also, a great turnout of the Cass Tech kids, too, and their coach."
The Chapter Board is especially interested in future events where members can get together in one place, socialize, share and enjoy each others company. Please look out for those opportunities as we move forward.
